Anyone have any experience with the SXP? Anything that would deter one from buying it?

I bought myself one for my birthday. Nice lightweight feel. Only shot skeet with 2 3/4. Shoots great. Even shot it in extreme cold,   3 degrees above zero. Disassembles easily. I really like the feel of the action, very solid. Only bad point has been the fit of the chokes. They all fit a little too snug. I can't really finger twist them at all. I need to use the choke wrench more than I would like to when I change out chokes. It was relatively inexpensive and I think it will weather the salt flats I hunt very well.

Thanks, I'm looking at getting myself that or an 870 for Christmas. I really like the look and feel of the SXP. I'm just not 100% on it yet. Still looking at these new 870s and trying to decide which will be the better purchase.

Compare both guns as best as you can. My personal experiece with Remington shotguns is unfavorable...I own my share of them, autos and pumps and they have not been reliable. Last Rem purchase was the 887 pump which didn't cycle properly from the get go. Sent it back and they put new parts in it. I have put it aside as I"ve moved on to another gun. Too many problems over the years with their shotguns. I wiill buy the Winchester SXP 3 1/2" shortly. No complaints with Winchester shotguns.

You cant go wrong with either gun. I bought an SXP this past summer and it shoots smooth and is very durable. I have shot everything from 2 3/4's #9's to 3 1/2 #2's and it still hasn't jammed. I already dropped it in the swamp and it did not rust one bit. I love my SXP but like I said before you cant go wrong with the 870. You can't argue with the history of the gun. I would go with the one that feels right to you.
