I am in the market for a Benelli gun and will purchase a Vinci or an M2 in the very near future.  I hunt ducks over decoys and upland game as well.  Which gun would you recommend and why?  Thanks for your feedback.

If you are willing to go up to the Vinci, I would go with a SBEII. I've had mine for several years and it has never given me a problem in any condition. I've used it for light loads shooting dove and skeet and I've used it with 3.5 inch shells. You will be very pleased and will never need another shotgun.

I bought an M2 this year. I am very happy with it....looking back I would have spent the couple hundred dollars to get the SBE2 for the 3 1/2 shells. I'm not convinced the 3 1/2/'s make a big difference but i'm pretty green at this....

I am on my 2nd season with the Vinci.  I think it would come down to personal fit between the two for you.  The biggest hurdle I had to overcome was giving up the 3 1/2" shell.  However, with shells such as Blackcloud and Hevi-metal I'm perfectly OK with just shooting 3" and seeing the same knockdown power.
